School Employees Health Benefits Program
Atlantic Cape Community College participates in the NJ School Employee's Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) as a local education employer. Eligible employees can choose from two different health plans available through Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield's NJ Educators or Aetna Garden State. A high-deductible plan is also available.
Prescription Drug coverage is through OptumRx. A mail-order service is available at a cost savings.
Enrollment in SEHBP is effective after 60 days of employment. Faculty hired on a 10-month contract, hired at the start of the school year, will have their benefits effective on September 1.
SEHBP coverage is offered to full-time employees and their eligible dependents. Eligible dependents are spouses and children up to age 26. Coverage for dependent children will terminate on December 31st of the year they turn 26 years old.
All employees are required to contribute to the cost of their health and prescription insurance under Chapter 78, P.L. 2011. The percentage of the premium paid is based on the employee's salary, plan selected, and coverage level.
Adjunct instructors who are eligible for pension enrollment through the NJ Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) or the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) may purchase SEHBP coverage for themselves and their dependents. Calculate Your Costs is a section on the main SEHBP site where you can compare plans.
